Capabilities in detail
Jabber is an open standard communication protocol (XMPP), as well as an enterprise-level communications solution from Cisco. Jabborate lets you collaborate with anyone on your SAP Portal by exchanging instant messages or making audio and video calls. Jabborate achieves this by integrating with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) and Cisco Unified Presence (CUP) via Jabber SDK for Web.
Jabborate uses SAP’s user directory to build a contact list automatically. It extends the existing user interface, while keeping the same look and feel by adding its own visual components such as “click-to-chat” and “click-to-call” buttons, and presence status. You can view one’s presence status by simply looking at his or her profile card. Sending an instant message or starting voice and video call with any of your connections is as simple as clicking a button.
Jabborate keeps all open communication channels in a separate browser window. This allows you to interact with contacts and use the system at the same time. You can open several browser tabs containing different pages of your productivity system and manage your chat or calls from any of them.
You can start a chat session with several contacts from your social network simultaneously and Jabborate will keep each conversation in a separate tab within the chat pop-up. You can close or minimize the chat window at any time without losing track of the conversation: receiving a new instant message will open it again if it was closed or pop it up if was minimized.
Jabborate also provides you with the ability to start a chat session with more than one participant. You can create a new chat room and invite participants from his or her contact list. The chat room appears as a new contact in Jabborate contact list, so you can access it even after the chat window has been closed. The chat room exists until its owner closes it.
You can start a voice or video call to anyone by pressing the “click-to-call” button on their profile. You can also dial a phone number directly using Jabborate's dialer keypad. This allows you to contact people who are not on your contact list. The conversation window displays information for all active calls as well as tools to manage the ongoing conversations. You can start or stop your video streaming, mute/unmute your microphone, or end the current conversation. The video call window also contains a video preview, which enables you to preview the camera output before joining a conversation.
Jabborate adds “click-for-call” buttons for voice and video as well as a chat button to the profile of every end-user on your SAP system. This integrated, streamlined user experience improves end user engagement and adoption, while minimizing the need to continuously switch between applications.
Jabborate will use the same chat or call pop-up for all the chat or call requests. Since all of these tabs are “child” windows, the user information remains secure: if the end-user logs off SAP, all child windows will be closed automatically.
Jabborate adds real-time communication options to everyone using SAP Portal (NetWeaver) or SAP JAM. SAP JAM requires a different approach to the integration (server-side vs client-side) but the end-user experience is identical.
Add WebEx meetings
Jabborate for WebEx extends the real-time communication options by providing a contextual WebEx integration for SAP Portal. Click on any contact to start an instant WebEx meeting, or start a group WebEx from a group of SAP contacts.
